Wildlife Worldwide Photography Competition Winners 2019

We are delighted to reveal the winning images for our Wildlife Photography Competition – with over 400 entries we were blown away by the quality of your entries! Thank you to everyone who entered. Our panel of judges had a a tricky few days picking the winners for each category – Wildlife Portraits, Animal Action and Wildlife Portfolio – and, finally, the overall winner.

We are excited to announce that the overall winner of our Photography Competition 2019 is Peter Whitehead with his stunning image of a bison in Yellowstone National Park, Peter is also the winner in the Wildlife Portraits category.

The winner of the Animal Action category is Nick Dale with his image of a grizzly bear trying to catch a salmon in Alaska, while Andy Richardson wins the Wildlife Portfolio category with his wonderfully diverse images from the Brazilian Pantanal.

Our Sponsors
A huge thanks must go to all of our 2019 competition sponsors: Vanguard, Opticron and Rohan. Without their brilliant support we wouldn’t have been able to provide such a wonderful array of prizes to our deserved winners.

Overall Winner & Wildlife Portraits Winner – Peter Whitehead

Bison in snow, Yellowstone National Park by Peter Whitehead
This stunning image was one of the first portrait images to make the shortlist for its simplicity and elegance. It was the quality of the image that shone through and our panel of judges loved the striking tones, contrast with the snowy surrounds and the magical depth of field.

As many of you will know, getting a correct exposure in the snow can be particularly difficult - so it was all of these elements that came together to make Peter's image the deserved winner of both the Overall Prize and the Wildlife Portraits category.

Peter wins our three day trip to Skomer Island, to photograph puffins at the height of the breeding season, as well as a £500 voucher from Vanguard.

Animal Action Winner – Nick Dale

Grizzly bear catching a salmon, Brooks Falls, Alaska by Nick Dale
This was a category that had our judges going backwards and forwards for many hours. In the end, they chose this fabulous image of a grizzly bear, at the famous Brooks Falls in Alaska. It was the timing of the shot, and hitting the brief perfectly, that clinched the win for Nick.

Nick wins an Opticron voucher worth £500

Wildlife Portfolio Winner – Andy Richardson

Our panel of judges was blown away by not only the quality, but also the number of entries in our Wildlife Portfolio category. The judges finally settled on Andy's stunning collection of images from Brazil. The portfolio perfectly captures a number of species in this stunning destination.
